First Aid and Treatment for Children
In case of emergency...
Always keep a First aid kit in the home, and near play areas. A travel kit is also a good thing to put together and have ready to take with you when your on the go
Poison Emergency in the Mouth
- Do NOT make the child vomit or give them something to eat or drink unless the poison control center instructs you to do so
- Call the poison center
Poison Emergency on the Skin
- Take off any clothes that have poison on them and wash them separately
- Rinse skin well with water. Then wash the skin gently with soap and water
- Call the poison center
Poison Emergency in the Eye
- Rinse eyes with water for 15 minutes
- Rinse skin well with water. Then wash the skin gently with soap and water
- Call the poison center
Poison Emergency in the Air
- Open windows and doors to let fresh air in
- Leave the area and move to where you can breathe fresh air
- Call the poison center
- Help prevent poisonings such as Carbon Monoxide by installing detectors.
- Fire/Smoke alarms should also be installed throughout the home
